The area

The province of Ragusa, the smallest and the youngest of the Sicilian provinces, covers an area of roughly 1600 square kilometres in the south-western side of the Island and has a total population of 300,000.

Many features have made it an extremely interesting and charming itinerary for tourists: the landscape with its so characteristic fields and dry-stone walls, the turquoise sea, the big and sunny beaches , the pleasant towns, full of baroque art "jewels" for which it is now World UNESCO heritage, its tradition and history.

It is a province that conveys, to the ones who have the opportunity to experience it, an impression of rural serenity and peace, becoming the perfect place for a reinvigorating holiday.

In the last few years the most characteristic and beautiful images of this corner of Sicily have also been known in Italy (and in many other countries too) , for being the scenery of "Montalbano Police Commissioner" RAI- fiction and many other films ( "Il Capo dei Capi" is the last of them), where its charming landscape, the squares, the sea promenades , the rural tracks, the farms became part of the TV-series , letting the real soul of these wonderful places emerge.
