MONTI iBLEI TIMED CLIMBING
The ascent of the Iblei Mountains is a car competition that takes place annually within the municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi in the province of Ragusa.
The latter has a distance of 8 kilometers and today represents one of the most important events in the area, attracting an increasing number of tourists.
The Hotel Antica Stazione in Chiaramonte Gulfi is a reference point for the Iblei Mountains. Being concurrent with the finish point of the competition, it is the place where drivers with their team, visitors, car enthusiasts and organizers can find accommodation, refreshments and a warm welcome.
MARATHON at the PHILIPPIDES
In the province of Ragusa, one of the most particular and unique marathons in the world takes place.
This competition takes the name of Maratona alla Filippide in memory of the one who, according to the most famous legend, ran without stopping from Marathon to Athens in 490 BC, thus starting this centuries-old sport.
Its route is called 'Planata degli Iblei', characterized by departures at 'upstream' points and arriving at 'downstream' points. The competition begins at the Hotel Antica Stazione in Chiaramonte Gulfi and ends at the home of the famous Commissioner Montalbano. Again, the hotel is a meeting point for marathon runners and their team.
